The next generation of Hare Krishna Movement will be defined by our present young devotees. Their education is therefore very important. Unfortunately, the modern education system does not lead them to get an education based on their talents and interests. So many young people become confused about their duties and obligations.

This is the primary reason for the establishment of Pasraman Sandipani Muni at Gita Nagari Baru Village, Lampung – Indonesia. The vaishnava village has enough number of young people, thus making it an ideal place to establish traditional education based on Veda. As said by Krishna in Bhagavad-gita (4.13): catur-varnyam maya srstam guna-karma-vibhagasah. Krishna created the four divisions of human society according to the three modes of material nature and He also prescribed respective work to those people. As we know, the four professional or occupational classifications are called varna. They are brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya, sudra. The Vedas teach that different subjects are taught to different professional classes based on skill and interests.

Several subjects were taught by the gurus at Pasraman Sandipani Muni; one of them is martial arts. Martial arts are taught by Trivikrama prabhu. The traditional martial art is called Kera Sakti. The brahmacaris who are interested in practicing the Kera Sakti are trained by Trivikrama prabhu with great discipline. As many as 3 times a week, they practice hard. The purpose of this training is to develop a Ksatriya-minded child. So that later they can protect the village and especially the cows.
