The ancient culture of India known as Vedic culture gave special protection and attention to six of the most dependent and defendless living entities that make up any community or State (SB 1.14.41). These are 1) children, 2) saintly persons, 3) women, 4) the diseased, 5) the elderly and 6) cows. Of these, the cow is considered the most important because she supports all other forms of life, including the brahmanas. In the Gomati-vidya prayers to mother cow we therefore find the following description: gavah pratistha bhutanam, “the existence of all living entities depends upon the cow.”

By supporting Mother Surabhi, we ensure the support and protection of all other living entities. And by extending your support to Mother Surabhi, you help increase auspiciousness in the world for among all auspicious objects, she is the most auspicious: gavo mangalam uttamam.
