Being encouraged by the famous statement of the Founder-acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, HDG A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada- “Produce what you need, use only what you produce”, HG Krishna Chandra Prabhu, supervisor, ISKCON Bellari, took the initiative and encouraged some devotees under him to start producing their own food for the pleasure of their Lordship – Sri Sri Gaura Nitai.
In a patch of 4 acres of land, in the month of August 2018 with the help of 6 devotees in Bellari, HG Krishna Chandra Prabhu was able to produce 500 kgs rice, 600 kgs of Bengal gram, 250 kgs of millet, 150 kgs of varai, 10 kgs of wheat, 10 kgs of mung dal, and 15 kgs of til (sesame seeds).
All these products are grown organically. Apart from these, they also have their own vegetable garden for their daily consumption.
“Mostly we don’t go to the market to buy our bhoga for the Lord, we had produced all these foods, so we cook what we produce. Actually, this is more pleasing to Guru and Krishna. We have our vegetable garden also. I took this initiative to grow our own food because of my Guru Maharaj’s instruction which is in-line with Srila Prabhupada’s instruction that we have to grow our own organic food for the Lord. With the help of some 5 to 6 devotees here and by the Lord’s mercy, now we are able to offer this organic food every day,” said HG Krishna Chandra Prabhu.
Next month (June 2019), one more family will come and help their project, and also they will get two cows.
