One of the congregational devotees of ISKCON Nizamabad, HG Ramananda Ray Gaura, is an active preacher. Presently five villages around Nizamabad have become his areas of preaching Krishna consciousness.
One of those villages is Guttumukula village. On the September 15, 2019, ISKCON Nizamabad organized a Gramotsav, a Hare Krishna festival in that village. The festival included Grama Sankirtan, Go-puja, Sri Sri Gaura-Nitai abhishekam, Maha-arati, Jhulanyatra, distribution of MahaPrasadam and lecture by HG Hari Kirtan das.
Around one thousand people attended the festival. Currently in this village there are 30 people who chant “Hare Krishna Mahamantra” on beads on a regular basis, and out of those, 6 people chant 16 rounds daily.
“… part of our preaching here is… because 90% of the population of this village is of farmers. They have very nice soil, some are potters by profession but have given up. So we are trying to encourage them to adopt simple life in Krishna consciousness, to grow everything naturally, to take up traditional occupation which they had once given up. Basically bring them some awareness on these aspects…” said HG Hari Kirtan das.
HG Hari Kirtan das and HG Ramananda Ray Gaura plan to organize a Tirtha Yatra in Vrindavan Dham for the sincere souls from Nizamabad and hoping that they can become more inspire and take up Krishna consciousness very seriously.
