Vedic Sociology Seminar in Vrindavana – July 13/14, 2019

Immediately following the Adhivasa (Opening) Ceremony of the ISKCON Bhagavata Mahavidyalaya on Friday, July 12, 2019, on behalf of IDVM-India, HH Bhakti Raghava Swami presented a two-day seminar on the topic “Vedic Sociology” at the Balarama Hall on the campus of the ISKCON Krishna Balarama Temple.

The seminar covered five sessions of two-hour presentations on the topic of “Char Vidyas”, the four traditional Vedic sciences that form the foundational pillars of the ancient Aryan or Vedic Culture as scientifically presented in Kautilya’s Arthashastra.

These four basic and universal sciences are elaborately covered in the book Modernity is Killing Civilization that was made available at the end of each session.

The first science is called Anviksiki, the Science of Philosophy, the second, Trayi, the Science of Education, the third, Danda Niti, the Science of Politics and the fourth, Varta, the Science of Economics.

The Vedic Culture is such that without following these four standard sciences general society will be misled and will misuse these three natural gifts of nature given to mankind.

These three natural gifts of nature are explained in the Mahabharata by Grandfather Bhismadeva as being 1) the gift of a cow, Mother Surabhi, 2) the gift of land, Mother Bhumi and 3) the gift of knowledge, Mother Sarasvati.

All three mothers are meant to be protected and in turn gifted to responsible members of society by the natural leaders of society, namely the Brahmanas (the intellectual class), the Kshatriyas (the administrative class) and the Vaisyas (the productive class).

As long as modern leaders in these three sectors do not adopt these guidelines we will continue to see increased exploitation followed by untold suffering, rapid deterioration ending in massive global destruction.
